Chiesa dell'Itria

Piccolo gioiello incastonato nel cuore di Caltabellotta è la chiesa di Santa Maria dell’Itria, pregevole costruzione barocca che reca al suo interno numerosi stucchi tipici di quello stile barocco che in Sicilia trova la sua massima espressione decorativa fra la fine del 1600 e tutto il 1700. Al suo esterno degno di nota è il portale che con le sue quattro colonne, di cui due tortili, sostengono altrettanti capitelli corinzi su cui poggia un architrave sovrastato da due spirali e un medaglione con al centro le immagini di un’anima purgante e un serafino. Al suo interno custodisce un coro ligneo di notevole fattura disposto ai lati dell’altare maggiore che avrebbe un urgente bisogno di restauro così come l’intera chiesa.

In the heart of Caltabellotta can be found this small jewel that is the church dedicated to Saint Mary of Hodegetria, valuable Baroque building decorated with numerous plaster sculptures, one example of the Baroque style that found its peak in Sicily between the late 1600’s and all of 1700’s. On the exterior, is the portal having four columns, two of which are twisted. The columns carry on their tops four Corinthian capitals sustaining the main beam. Above that there are spirals and a medallion, in the center  of which there are a purging soul and a seraph angel. In its interior there is a valuable wooden choir, arranged around the major altar, in urgent need, as the whole church, of a restoration.

Esta pequeña joya se puede encontrar en el corazón de Caltabellotta que es la iglesia dedicada a Santa María de Odigitria, valioso edificio barroco decorado con numerosas esculturas de yeso, un ejemplo del estilo barroco que encontró su punto máximo en Sicilia entre finales de los años 1600 y todos los de 1700. En el exterior, un portal que tiene cuatro columnas, dos de los cuales se tuercen. Las columnas llevan sobre sus cimas cuatro capiteles corintios que sostienen la viga principal. Por encima de los  espirales hay un medallón, en el centro del cual hay un alma de barrido y un ángel serafín. En su interior hay un coro de valiosa madera, alrededor del altar mayor, en una necesidad urgente, de restauración de toda la iglesia.

Ein kleines Juwel im Herzen Caltabellottas ist die Kirche dell’Itria, ein feines Barockgebäude, das im Inneren die typischen Stuckarbeiten des sizilianischen Barock aufweist. Dieser fand seinen größten Ausdruck zwischen 1600 und 1700. Außen gibt es ein bemerkenswertes Portal mit vier Säulen, von denen zwei gedreht sind; die anderen weisen korinthische Kapitelle auf und Stützbalken mit zwei Spiralen und einem Medaillon in der Mitte, das eine Seele im Fegefeuer und einen Seraphim darstellt. Im Innenraum befindet sich auf beiden Seiten des Hauptaltars ein hölzerner Chor, der die dringende Notwendigkeit beweist, dass die Kirche restauriert werden muss.
